AN exciting new project has been created to encourage families to have fun during lockdown.

Winsford Together Community Group has been set up on social media to give adults and children the chance to take part in all sorts of activities.

Campaigner Jo Conchie, who runs a Good Neighbour scheme to help the town's elderly and vulnerable, teamed up with Sarah Tomlinson, headteacher of Darnhall Primary School to support the community.

Jo said: "This is an online community centre bringing all the community together when we can't be together.

"We want to give people positive things to do and look forward to the future.

"They can get involved as a family or people can take part on their own. It is for all ages.

"We will have competitions and lots of activities."

Mum Vicky Hayden, whose six year-old daughter Maisy is painting a picture, said: “We are having so much fun staying home safe together as a family doing her learning for her school and doing lots of crafts as a family.

"I love the community spirit that is coming out of this pandemic and the Facebook group competitions are great for all ages.”

Headteacher Sarah, who lives in Winsford, said:“The Winsford Together Community Group will continue all year to unite us as a community.

"It’s a place for positivity and support rather than a forum to discuss issues. The team of admin are excited about their ideas and have already had a great response to the first competition of the year.”
