A CAMPAIGN has been launched to show NHS heroes battling to save coronavirus patients how much we love them.

Jane Hope wants to provide soothing masks to help treat the facial bruises nurses and doctors develop from wearing PPE equipment for hours on end.

Many medics have been left with red scars and blemishes because their faces have been covered up for so long.

Jane, 55, a Body Shop at Home consultant, said: "I am doing a campaign to get soothing sheet face masks to workers at Leighton Hospital to help with the dreadfully painful marks they are getting on their faces from wearing PPE all the time.

"Their skin is breaking out in bruises and rashes because there is no air getting in.

"This is just something that says we care about them."

Jane is appealing to the local community to donate £4 to sponsor each mask and hopes to raise enough money to supply at least 150 for frontline health workers.

"These soothing face masks will rehydrate their skin as they contain vitamin C and aloe," said Jane. "You put it on your face for 15- 20 minutes and it is so relaxing you could fall asleep.

"It is like a spa treatment in a sheet. It will give their faces a chance to recover and let them know we are all thinking about them."

In the first lockdown Jane and her colleagues donated hand cream to NHS staff.

"They are putting their lives on the line for us," said Jane, who lives in Winsford with husband Pete, who is a driving instructor.

"We thought it would be lovely to pamper these NHS workers who have done so much for us.

"There is such a lovely community spirit in Winsford, we love living here.

"I've set a goal of 150 but I hope to smash that out of the water."

For every four masks sponsored, Jane will donate a fifth one.
