A RED flood warning has been issued for Little Bollington – while there is also an amber flood alert for Knutsford and Wilmslow.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for the River Bollin and Agden Brook, between Little Bollington and Dunham.

It means that flooding is expected in this area and ‘immediate action is required’ from residents.

An Environment Agency spokesman said: “River levels have risen at the Bollington Mill river gauge as a result of persistent rainfall which is forecast to continue throughout the day.

“Consequently, flooding of low lying land, roads and farmland is possible from lunchtime today, January 14.

“We believe there is a possibility of flooding for properties at and around Bollington Mill and Bollington Hall Farm. We expect river levels to remain high throughout today and into this evening.

“Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue further updates where necessary. Please be aware of your surroundings and keep up to date with the current situation.”

Meanwhile, the Environment Agency has also issued an amber flood alert for the River Bollin catchment in Knutsford and Wilmslow.

It says flooding here is possible and that residents should be prepared.

A spokesman added: “River levels are currently high and will continue to rise due to rainfall over the last 24 hours, further rain is forecast until this evening.”
