WITH Knutsford now in its third lockdown, the town council is urging residents to shop local and avoid resorting to the big retailers or Amazon.

Knutsford Market Hall’s essential traders – The Market Butcher, Household and Pet, and Jonty’s Fruit and Veg – are open giving residents an alternative to the supermarkets.

They will also accept phone or text orders for joint delivery or collection.

Jonty Page, of Jonty’s Fruit and Veg, said: “Knutsford – we’ve got you.

“We have fresh local produce, and we work alongside the other traders to get your order to you.

“Our delivery slots are supported by local volunteers, Covid-19 compliant, are free and are a lot easier to come by than the big supermarkets.

“Of course, you can always pop in or collect too.”

Many of the town’s independent businesses have been brought together online at knutsfordhighstreet.com with a selection of shops offering home delivery, while there is also information at knutsfordhub.co.uk and in the Knutsford Virtual High Street group on Facebook.

But sometimes it is as easy as picking up the phone and speaking to a local shop owner – and they will be more than happy to have a chat about what is in stock for safe delivery or collection.

Sandra Curties, town centre and marketing officer, said, “Knutsford businesses and shops are once again rising to the challenge and helping the community to stay local and shop local.”

The Knutsford Voucher, which can be redeemed in 52 independent shops, is another way to spend local and could make an excellent gift idea.

They can be ordered online at knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk/services/knutsford-voucher and are valid for a year.
