A BOULDER was hurled through a car window in the early hours of the morning.

The incident is the latest in a spate of attacks on vehicles in Middlewich.

Residents living nearby said they heard four lads causing a disturbance in Chadwick Road at around the same time.

"It is just mindless vandalism," said Richard Beevers, of Woodend Close, beside Cledford Park, who was woken up after the rear window of his wife Sharon's car was smashed at around 1am on Monday.

"When I was a child I'd never dream of picking up a brick and hurling it through a window.

"How can youths be out walking the streets in early hours of the morning and not be noticed missing from their homes?

"Supermarkets are telling us we have to wear masks and tighter restrictions are being introduced. I'm sure the people who did this don't live in the same house are were not socially distancing."

A car round the corner in George VI Avenue was also damaged on the same night.

Two tyres were slashed on a car in Woodend Close last week.

"It is the inconvenience of having to sort out replacing the glass and paying for it," said Richard, who works as a surveyor for a housing association.

"This is only a small town. It must be someone who lives in Middlewich causing this damage. I can't understand the mindset.

"I hope this encourages people to be more vigilant and aware and report any incidents so that the police can perhaps patrol more often."

The police confirmed that they were called to reports of criminal damage in Woodend Close.
