THE sale of land at Glebe Farm in Middlewich has been complete ahead of a planned new housing development.

Acting on behalf of Willsgrove Developments Ltd, the UK development and residential team at CBRE has secured the sale of a 40-acre site to Taylor Wimpey for an undisclosed sum.

Jessica Coombes, who leads the north west land team at CBRE, said: "We are delighted to secure the sale of this strategic site in Cheshire to Taylor Wimpey especially in this challenging climate.

"The site is perfectly placed for good quality housing which will complement the surrounding land uses and existing residential developments to the north east of the site.”

Cheshire East Council had already granted outline planning permission for around 450 homes plus a retail unit on the site back in 2018, while more detailed plans for 84 of those home were given the green light last February.

However, the major developer is currently looking to revise the plans, with 'a number of constraints on site' leading to changes in the scheme's design.

Contributions towards playing fields, affordable housing and a large commuted sum towards the planned Middlewich Eastern Bypass, which is anticipated to open in 2023, will be made by the developer as part of the project.
