BUSINESSES in Winsford are helping each other through the pandemic.

Hair stylist Leanne Forsey, who owns Guyz n Dollz salon in Wharton Road, has set up a group on social media to encourage traders to support one another.

"It has been absolutely fantastic," said mum-of-four Leanne. "We've got a great community in Winsford. People do look after one another.

"Many of us are in the same business, hairdressers operating just quarter of a mile from each other. You might think we'd be business rivals but since March we have come together, it's been brilliant."

The Small Business Help Group During Covid-19 provides practical information and support on Facebook for any firms needing help.

"We share information about Furlough and post links to government websites," said Leanne. "People can chat and ask questions. We're no experts but we all support each other. If someone needs something we all try to help.

"I'm really proud of everyone."

Leanne has nothing but praise for the way her own staff have pulled out all the stops throughout this difficult period.

Katie Mitchell, Joanne Birtley and Kieran Cox, she said were 'a brilliant team'.

"I am so lucky, my team is fantastic," said Leanne. "They are so supportive, I couldn't have got through lockdown without them. They are like angels. They have never once complained and yet keep getting put on Furlough.

"When we last got closed down on New Year's Eve, we worked our butts off and stayed open until midnight. Our backs, shoulders and everything were aching. I decided I would treat them all to free session at a chiropractor. I'm going to make it a regular thing because it is nice to know they are appreciated."

Shutting down the hair salon for the third lockdown has been difficult, she said, but she is full of hope for the future.

"As long as you've got your health and your family, we can get through this," said Leanne. "I miss my parents so much, I haven't seen them since March. Time is so precious.

"Now we've got a vaccine, hopefully things will eventually get back to normal. We've just got to stick together."

"Our customers have been so loyal, flexible and generous. I really want to thank them for all their support.
