A WILMSLOW man who was hunted down by a police dog in the early hours of Thursday morning has been charged with drink driving.

The 33-year-old fled from officers in Brereton Road, Handforth, at around 2.30am on December 10, before abandoning his car and hiding in nearby woodland.

A dog unit attended the scene, with Dutch herder Toro lending a paw and leading the officers straight to the man.

A Cheshire Police spokesman told the Guardian: “At 2.28am on December 10 a vehicle made off from officers in Brereton Road, Handforth.

“The vehicle was discovered a short time later without the driver. A search was made and a man was arrested.”

The man is due to appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court in early January.
