A FUN-LOVING teaching assistant dresses up every day in December as a different Christmas character.

Excited children at Willow Wood Community Primary School in Winsford can't wait to see which costume Pauline Lee will turn up in.

Pupils wait for her at the gate so they can pose beside her for selfies.

The 56-year-old has a wardrobe packed with colourful costumes.

Pauline said: " I love coming into school every day and putting a smile on everyone's face. The children love it and I keep them guessing as to what I will be dressed as next.

"So far I have been an elf, a Christmas tree and a Christmas sprout. I must say a huge thank you to my elves who help design and create each costume."

For several years she has been captivating pupils with her creative outfits. She wears her colourful costumes all day, even on the playground where she is also a midday attendant.

Pauline would like to thank Hannah Pye and Wendy Cresham who made and designed many of the costumes.

Hannah also does her make up.

“It’s a real team effort, “ said Pauline. “I enjoy seeing the children’s faces light up every day and this year is definitely a year that we all need cheering up,”

Pauline runs a singing club at the Bradbury Road school and has taught generations of children over the past 17 years.

Head teacher Martin Bell said: "Here at Willow Wood we very much enjoy celebrating Christmas with our children, their families and the community.

"As such we have a wonderful array of fantastic festive activities planned throughout the end of the autumn half term. But arguably the highlight at this time of year is Mrs Lee and her fancy dress. The children love seeing her each day."
