A ROAD in Lower Withington has been named one of the worst in the north west for its broadband speed.
Whitecroft Heath Road residents are enduring the third-slowest broadband speeds in the region, according to a study by Uswitch.
It found that the road has an average download speed of just 1.49 Mbps – and neither superfast nor ultrafast broadband are available as options for a boost.

At the other end of the chart is Dale Lane, in Appleton, Warrington, which has the fastest average internet speed in the UK at 639.67 Mbps – 430 times faster than in Whitecroft Heath Road.
Ernest Doku, broadband expert at Uswitch, said: “The digital divide that runs through Britain has grown dramatically in the last year.
“It’s great that more of us are enjoying ultrafast broadband, but we don’t want to see large swathes of the country left behind on shoddy connections that aren’t suitable for modern life.

“With millions of us working from home and watching more streaming TV at the moment, a good broadband connection is more important than ever.”
Whitecroft Heath Road is in a rural spot of east Cheshire, with just a handful of homes surrounded by the county's stunning countryside.
