CHESHIRE East and West have seen another 118 cases of coronavirus in the latest 24-hour figures, with one borough seeing the bulk of cases.

The latest data from Public Health England covers the 24-hour period up to 9am today, November 28.

In Cheshire East, including Knutsford and Middlewich, there were 70 cases in that time – four more than in Friday’s figures.

This takes the borough's total to 8,842 since the pandemic began.

In Cheshire West, including Northwich and Winsford, there were 48 cases in the 24 hours up to 9am today – eight fewer than in yesterday’s figures.

That means the borough has seen 8,874 Covid-19 cases in total.

Meanwhile, the seven-day infection rate has fallen again in both boroughs, with the latest Public Health England data covering the week up to November 23.

Cheshire East’s infection rate now stands at 153.1 per 100,000 people, following 588 cases in that week.

It is the sixth day in a row the rate has fallen and compares to the figure of 193.4 per 100,000 people one week earlier.

Cheshire West’s infection rate is now lower than its neighbour’s at 146.3 per 100,000 people, following 502 cases in the week up to November 23.

It is the ninth day running that the rate has fallen and compares to a rate of 281.6 per 100,000 people one week earlier.
