Santa Claus is coming to town.

The Rotary Club of Winsford and Middlewich has announced that Santa will be travelling on his sleigh around Winsford from Tuesday, December 8.

But, due to Covid restrictions the charity will be operating the festive event in a different way.

Mark Holmes, from The Rotary Club of Winsford and Middlewich, said: "Santa will be visiting as many streets as possible spreading Christmas cheer to all the boys girls, mums and dads, but sadly he has to keep moving and isn't allowed to stop and pose for photos.

"We will announce on Facebook the area that Santa will be visiting that evening.

"Please come out and say Hi as we pass."

Families will be able to track Santa via the Sleightracker App. More details will be given nearer the time on the club's Facebook page.

The Rotary Club is unable to collect money door to door but residents can still make donations towards their charity work by texting WMSANTA followed by the amount you wish to give to 70450.

Texts will cost the amount of the donation plus one standard rate message charge.

Money raised from Santa's sleigh supports many local projects, charities and organisations as well as international projects.

In the past year alone, the club has donated almost £8,000 to local charities and organisations including £2,000 to St Luke’s Hospice, £1,250 to Winsford Salvation Army and £1,000 to Cheshire Downs Syndrome Group.
