THE trust that runs Leighton Hospital is reporting that three more of its coronavirus patients have died.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust says one of the deaths took place yesterday, November 18, while one took place on Tuesday, November 17, and one took place on Monday, November 16.

In total, there have been 12 deaths reported by the trust in the past week, up from seven deaths reported one week ago.

It takes the total number of coronavirus patients who have died at the trust’s sites to 245.

Two more Covid-19 patients have also died at the Countess of Chester, with the NHS trust reporting one death on Wednesday and one on Tuesday, taking the hospital trust’s death toll to 260.

Only deaths that occur in hospitals where the patient has tested positive for Covid-19 are recorded in the NHS England figures, with deaths in the community excluded, such as those in care homes.

Across England, 346 new deaths from coronavirus have been reported by NHS hospitals today, including 89 in the north west.

Of those patients, 331 were aged 60 or above, while one person was aged below 40.

Their families have been informed.
