FAMILIES are invited to celebrate the life of loved ones in a different way this year.

St Luke's will be holding their annual Light up a Life service online next month due to Covid-19.

Hundreds of people usually gather at the hospice to dedicate a light.

This year, the hospice is hoping to bring everyone together at home for a service of remembrance at 6pm on Sunday, December 6.

Dr Andrea Graham, director of clinical services at the hospice, said: "Each and every year we have gathered outside the hospice for our Light up a Life service in memory of those we have loved and lost.

"Sadly, this year we cannot gather at the hospice, but we are extending a warm invite to our online service."

Dedicating a light in memory of someone special can be a very comforting experience, offering a moment for relatives and friends to join together in remembrance and reflection.

Anyone wishing to dedicate a light is asked to do so by next Wednesday, November 25, so that the name of loved ones can be included in a Book of Memories which can be viewed online.

After what has been such a difficult year for everyone, the hospice hopes their service will bring comfort and light.

Anyone can make a donation in memory of someone special, they do not need to have been cared for by St Luke's.
