NEW figures from Public Health England show the communities in Cheshire where coronavirus rates are rising and falling in the second national lockdown.

The map below shows which parts of Northwich, Winsford, Middlewich, Knutsford and Wilmslow were hardest hit by Covid-19 in the seven days up to November 10.

It is split into geographical areas known as ‘middle super output areas’, which are larger than individual villages but smaller than whole towns.

Northwich Guardian:

Areas shaded purple have the highest Covid infection rates, followed by dark blue, while areas shaded lighter blue have lower infection rates.

The latest figures show Davenham and Moulton’s infection rate increased by more than five times over the space of a week, up from 83.5 per 100,000 people in the week up to November 3 to 434.2 in the following week.

Winsford Central now has the highest coronavirus infection rate in mid Cheshire at 558.3 per 100,000 people, while the Mobberley, Plumley and High Legh area also has an infection rate of more than 500.

Out of all parts of Cheshire East and West, only the Capenhurst, Saughall and Moston area, near Chester, and Whitby and Stanney Woods, in Ellesmere Port, currently have a higher infection rate than Winsford Central – at 605.9 and 594.5 respectively.

However, a number of areas have seen their Covid infection rates fall over the course of a week – including Winsford North and Lostock and Wincham – while Holmes Chapel had fewer than three coronavirus cases in the week up to November 10, meaning its infection rate is not available.
