THE Hartford care home planning saga is set to continue, as revised plans go before Cheshire West and Chester’s planning committee next week.

Developer New Care has already seen proposals to demolish three homes – 433, 435, and 437 Chester Road – and build a 69-bed care home rejected by CWAC councillors back in July.

As she did in the summer, Hartford and Greenbank Cllr Patricia Parkes has called-in the application, claiming the development is ‘out of character with that area of Hartford and having a detrimental effect on the street scene’.

Alongside this, Hartford Parish Council have submitted an objection to the amended plans, saying: “[We] object to the development, as it contravenes the Neighbourhood Plan. Whilst there have been some changes, the development is still contrary to the Neighbourhood Plan and doesn’t overcome the reason for refusal.

“Concerns have been raised regarding the developments impact on the scale, design and character of the area, impact on highway network, impact on residential amenity, and that it does not represent sustainable development.”

Northwich Guardian:

Since July’s refusal, New Care has removed proposals to build four houses at the rear of the site, and opted to move the care home further back from the street scene.

Additionally, it pledges to provide additional landscaping, more amenity space, and increase the number of parking spaces — as well as alter ‘the front façade of the care home to create a design ethos of two distinctive residential properties’.

Meanwhile, New Care has also appealed the original decision from July’s meeting with the Planning Inspectorate.

The amended plans will be discussed by CWAC’s Planning Committee online on November 3, at 4pm.
