Both goals came in the opening 16 minutes and Carl Macauley's side ended up living nervously in the closing stages after the visitors grew a leg.

Will Jones, who limped out of the action late on, gave Albion a perfect start, netting after two minutes.

The advantage was doubled from the penalty spot in the 16th minute.

Colls goalkeeper Elliot Wynne was judged to have tripped Scott Bakkor and James Foley stepped up to convert.

Witton quashed all Atherton threats in the opening half but were not as comfortable in the second, which was a much scrappier affair.

Colls, who didn't have their first shot on target until the 60th minute, halved the deficit when sub Dylan Glass broke free and slotted home in the 71st minute.

In added time the Leigh outfit put the ball in the back of the net again but the linesman flagged for offside.

Witton will next be in action on Wednesday when they host Crewe Alexandra in the Cheshire Senior Cup first round, kick-off 7.45pm.
