MIDDLEWICH councillor Carol Bulman, has said she is ‘looking forward’ to joining Cheshire East Council’s fostering panel.

Cllr Bulman’s appointment to the board was approved at this week’s full CEC council meeting.

The Labour member, who is a Middlewich ward councillor at Cheshire East Council as well as being an elected member of Middlewich Town Council, told the Guardian: “The fostering panel is something I have wanted to be involved with. I am looking forward to the training.

“At the end of your four years as a councillor, you will look back at what you have achieved and if you can help children in those four years — I just wanted to make sure in that time I did.

“Our main aim is to support families to help keep children with them but sometimes that cannot be the case.

“I think it is important to make sure that is done properly.”

Cllr Bulman’s appointment to the fostering panel adds to her already extensive portfolio of extra responsibilities.

Currently, the former A-level teacher is the chair of the staffing committee, vice-chair of the children and families overview and scrutiny committee, and sits on audit and governance, corporate overview and scrutiny, and corporate parenting committees.

Alongside Cllr Bulman’s appointment, full council approved the placing of Macclesfield South member Cllr Brian Puddicombe to the adoption panel.
