WORKERS at a family owned Winsford business are constantly encouraged to talk about how they feel.

Staff at UK Container Maintenance (UKCM) have teamed up to create a support network to ensure that every member of the male-dominated workforce feels comfortable to speak openly about their thoughts and feelings, without any discrimination.

Employees are being made aware of the importance of communication in improving mental health.

The project was launched by factory director Ben Clarke, who has introduced a 'door is always open' policy at his office in the warehouse where 35 employees work.

The business leader is keen to provide support to staff both during working hours and at home.

Ben said: “Alongside a commitment to quality and customer service, our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our staff members at UKCM is paramount.

"We understand the importance of taking time out of our busy schedules to allow us the space to communicate with each other and reiterate that it’s Ok to talk. Our factory team have labourintensive roles and as their colleagues we want to be there to support them.”

The company has also donated £300 to Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity fighting for young people’s mental health.

Established in 1998, UKCM, the UK’s largest family owned container repair and refurbishment company is dedicated to the refurbishment of all types of waste and recycling containers.

The firm works across the country offering waste companies and local authorities mobile repairs, as well as factory-based services at its head office on Road One at Winsford Industrial Estate.

The process brings old and often unwanted waste containers back to life instead of them going to scrap.

The business model – refurbishment over replacement - is simple and for a third of the price of replacing a container, UKCM can restore the unit to full working order.
