THE latest figures for coronavirus cases in communities across Cheshire show some areas are seeing a spike in Covid-19 cases.

This map below shows how prevalent coronavirus has been in Northwich, Winsford, Middlewich, Knutsford and Wilmslow from October 6 to 12 – with areas shaded darkest seeing the most cases.

Northwich Guardian:

Public Health England breaks down the figures into geographical areas known as ‘middle super output areas’ – which are smaller than towns, but bigger than individual villages.

The map shows that during that week, rural communities surrounding Knutsford in the ‘Mobberley, Plumley and High Legh’ area were hit hardest by Covid-19, with more than 30 cases.

This is one of the areas that has seen a rise in its number of coronavirus cases since October 3 to 9, the previous data published by the Guardian.

Other areas that have seen a leap in the number of cases include Northwich Central and Winnington, Davenham and Moulton, and Alderley Edge and Chelford.

But Middlewich has seen a much lower number of cases, with just seven cases across the whole town during that week, while Knutsford North has seen a significant drop in cases.

These figures cover the final days leading up to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s announcement on Monday that Cheshire would enter a tier two lockdown, which began on Wednesday.

Households are now banned from mixing indoors, but can meet outside in groups of no more than six, while pubs and restaurants are allowed to stay open until 10pm.
