THE total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus recorded in Cheshire West and Chester has now exceeded 4,000.

According to Government data there has been a further 113 positive cases in the borough during the latest 24-hour reporting period.

As of 4.39pm today (October 15) the total number of cases for the area since the start of the pandemic is 4,029.

In yesterday's Government update there were 93 additional cases confirmed.

The weekly infection rate for Cheshire West and Chester, up to October 10, stands at 195.3 (670 cases) per 100,000.

The borough was this week placed in 'tier two' of the Government's new lockdown restrictions for England, which came into force today.
