A MURDER investigation has been launched after a 27-year-old man has died and two other men were seriously injured.

Police officers were called to a disturbance in Cheviot Square in Winsford at around 10.30pm on Sunday night.

Reports have been received that there had been a stabbing but this has not yet been confirmed.

A police spokesman said: "On arrival officers found that two men, aged 27 and 36, had sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. A third man, aged 26, later presented himself at hospital with serious injuries.

"Sadly, the 27-year-old man died a short time later in hospital.

"His next of kin have been informed.

"Enquiries remain ongoing and an investigation is now underway."

Police say they are unable to confirm how the man died as a post mortem is yet to take place.

The area has been taped off as detectives mount extensive enquiries.
