PART of Winsford Cross shopping centre has been closed off following a fire that broke out on Monday night, September 28.

Six fire engines were sent out to deal with the fire, which was contained on the roof of the shopping centre, where Home Bargains is.

Fire crews spent three hours at the scene and an investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway.

A spokesman for Cheshire West and Chester Council told the Guardian: “CWAC is thankful nobody was harmed by the fire which occurred last night at Winsford Cross shopping centre.

“The fire was put out quickly due to the prompt actions of the fire service and was confined to a small area of the centre.

“The council will work with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service to support its investigations into the cause of the fire in the days ahead.

“An area of the centre will be closed for a short time while work takes place to ensure the building is safe for public use. The majority of the centre remains open to customers.”
