CREATIVE children were challenged to create a hat or potato to celebrate Roald Dahl story day.

Pupils at Darnhall Primary School in Winsford joined youngsters all over the world to celebrate the much loved author's characters and stories.

It marked the end of the children's first full week back at school after lockdown.

Hayden Baxendale, English lead at the Sandyhill Road school, said: "It was a fantastic day where we got to see our amazing children express their creativity through their favourite Roald Dahl stories or characters.

"Children were tasked with creating their own Roald Dahl themed hat or Roald Dahl themed potato. We had some excellent entries over the week.

"It was amazing to see children expressing this creativity and love for Roald Dahl's stories and characters, especially after a tough six months for everyone."
