EXCITED young footballers are preparing to kick off their first competitive season.

Winsford Over 3 under sevens Junior Football Club have been playing together since they were three-years-old.

The 15 boys, now aged six, can't wait to start competing in the Mid Cheshire League next month.

Andrew Ford, who coaches the team with Gale Mundy and son Dale, said: "We've had them since they were three and took them on at foundation age.

"In wind, rain or snow, they have trained. They are very disciplined for their age and listen to the coaches. They understand what we're trying to do. They absolutely love it."

The team wants to thank two sponsors from Winsford.

Danielle Ashley Services, who support people with learning difficulties, have funded the kit and managing director Dean Beddoes of Mitras Automotive has provided jackets.

"We are extremely grateful to both our sponsors," said Andrew, whose son Teddy is one of the players. "The support they offer us is great. They are proud to follow us and come to our games and presentations."

Players train on Wednesday evenings and play on Saturdays on a pitch which used to be a grass court at the old tennis club.

"We maintain it and make it ours," said Andrew. "It's our own little theatre of dreams."
