A MIDDLEWICH restaurant has been overwhelmed by a big increase in customers through the Government's Eat Out to Help Out initiative.

The Kinderton is so grateful for all the support from the community, it is launching its very own discount scheme in September to continue attracting diners.

The hotel will be offering food and soft drinks at a 25 per cent reduction on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Shaun Ellison, director of The Kinderton, said: "We want to thank everyone for supporting us. The Eat Out to Help Out has been very successful for us and the hospitality industry. We have seen a big increase in footfall on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

"We have been able to pull everyone back from furlough and taken on 14 more staff to help us through this busy period. It takes up to nearly 30 on the pay roll.

"Staff thrive on a busy atmosphere. It has been nice seeing a lot of old faces but it has also brought in lots of new faces who we hope will come to us again."

Hotels, bars and restaurants have been lobbying the Government to extend the scheme which offered diners half price meals and soft drinks on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout August into September.

However, if this does not happen, The Kinderton has pledged to introduce its own cut price version.

Diners have been very impressed by all the new Covid-19 safety measures that have been introduced.

"We've had some really positive feedback," said Shaun. "People were still very nervous about eating out but we have tried to create a safe and relaxing environment. We have introduced a big outdoor seating area that is under cover.

"People have told us they feel very safe here."
