I am so delighted that salons across the UK are now open for facial treatments, there will be a lot of very happy clients.

I hope all the salons can get back to their new norm and be a success. With this in mind I have decided to write about a variety of facial treatments that can help with many skin care concerns.

I am a great fan of the more advanced electrical facial treatments over a relaxing facial in terms of the results that they give. While a more relaxing hands on facial will improve the skin due to the products used and the increase in circulation to the skin with massage movements, the electrical treatments can work deep in to the skin and improve collagen and muscle tone.

Caci non-surgical face lift

These face lifts are an all-time favourite of mine. The non-invasive technology uses microcurrent to tone the facial muscles, while plumping and firming the skin. I find that the day after you have it done the results look even better.

For best results a course of treatment is required followed by a monthly maintenance treatment.

This is a great treatment to have prior to a wedding or a big event where you want your skin looking it’s best. Caci treatments are good for those who are concerned about anti-ageing.

I tend to mix Caci with other treatments to suit my clients skin and achieve the best results possible.

Radiofrequency treatments

These can be used on the face or body, to stimulate your skins own collagen production by using heat to stimulate the collagen production in the lower dermal layers.

This treatment works fantastically with Caci. As Caci tends to give quick results while you look good after a radio frequency treatment, it takes a while for the collagen production to kick in.

Radio frequency is great for people concerned about ageing. The treatment should not be painful and only be carried out by a fully trained practitioner.

The results are long lasting and usually a course of treatment is recommended followed by maintenance treatments. Your skin condition will dictate to how many treatments you need initially.

Comcit

Comcit stands for Cryo Oxygen Micro-channelling, this technology uses Cryo Oxygen and a roller with very fine needles to create microscopic channels in the skin while allowing the delivery of some powerful infusions to target various skin conditions.

The machine made by Crystal Clear is great for a variety of skin types, I use it to address a number of skin types and conditions. It can be used on a young skin to target acne, it will brighten and clear a tired dull skin, it can be used for intense hydration, even out the complexion while being a good anti-age treatment.

Comcit is a fantastic treatment to rejuvenate the skin by combating fine lines and wrinkles due to its collagen stimulating actions.

The Cryo Oxygen helps to make the treatment more comfortable and hygienic due to the antibacterial action.

For best results a course of between three to six treatments followed by maintenance treatments, although I believe you notice a difference in the skin even after one treatment.

It is important to wear a sunscreen after this treatment.

Microdermabrasion

This treatment is designed to deeply exfoliate the skin. There are different types, some use an abrasive instrument, while others use the crystal method where tiny crystals and a vacuum are used to remove dead skin cells.

This is great for a congested T zone and can be used on the face and areas of the body such as the back and back of hands.

I have found it to be good for treating stretch marks as long as they are still pink, and some scar tissue. Mostly it provides excellent exfoliation to keep the skin looking even and bright. It is great for young or mature skins, although avoid if you suffer from acne rosacea.

IPL

IPL stands for intense pulsed light. This treatment can target a variety of skins. It can be used to rejuvenate and even out a skin with thread veins or sunspots.

It can also be used to help a skin suffering with acne or unwanted hair. If using IPL for unwanted hair the hair cannot be white as it only works on hair with pigment.

The treatment can make the backs of the hands look younger as it will help to get rid of sunspots.

Having trained in a few IPL machines I have found Lynton manufactures the best.

This treatment is not relaxing but is worth having as it is usually very effective. You must wear sunscreen daily for a month afterwards to avoid uneven pigmentation.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is an exfoliating treatment using a scalpel or blade which can remove the fine vellus hair often known as peach fuzz.

I love this treatment for the glass like finish given to the skin following it. Products penetrate more deeply into the skin and the skin looks smoother.

I find dermaplaning enhances all the other anti-ageing facials in the salon. Make-up goes on smoother and there is often no down time after this treatment.

The treatment does not hurt, and many clients find it relaxing.

Chemical peels

Non-medical peels that can be carried out in salons are designed to remove the outermost layers of the skin, providing deep exfoliation.

Peels can be good for treating fine lines, congested skins, uneven skin tones, and brightening up dull or dry skin.

Not all skins are suitable for chemical peel and there may be some down time required as skin can be sensitive for a few days.
