A DUVET was one of many items of rubbish dumped at a Winsford beauty spot, according to a local anti-litter campaign group.

The Winsford Litter Project say they've had a busy time over the last week removing the trash that has been left behind by others in two particular local areas. As well as plenty of general items of rubbish, members of the project found a discarded duvet floating in the river at the end of Cow Lane.

Steve Edwards, one of the project organisers said: "We’ve had another busy week at the Winsford Litter Project, with a number of groups of local residents, leaving the place a mess for their neighbours to pick up.

"If any of your family members enjoy a get together at either the Ocean on the golf course or down by the Flash at the end of Cow Lane, please have a word with them about tidying up after.

"Whoever camped down by the river last weekend, you left your duvet floating in it. Anyone's household missing a quilt? Next time, please drop it in a bin."

New signs have been erected at the end of Cow Lane warning those that use the meadow by the Flash to take their rubbish home or the entrance will be blocked.

Mr Edwards went on: "A lot of people rely on this entrance, so please don’t ruin it for every else and keep the place tidy.

"There is no excusing what some people are leaving behind in Winsford’s green open spaces, but these people need to be reminded or re-educated not abused.

"We all hope you can get out and enjoy the sunshine and please take your litter home."
