TWO men from Newton-le-Willows have been charged in connection with a disturbance in Widnes during which gunshots were fired.

Police attended the incident on Factory Lane, Widnes on Monday afternoon (August 3).

At 12.30pm officers had received a number of reports of the disturbance on Factory Lane, Widnes.

Armed police were among officers deployed to the scene and on arrival they found that there had been a dispute involving around 20 people.

Shots are believed to have been fired during the incident although there were no reports of any injuries.

Luke Price, 52, of Southworth Road, Newton-le-Willows; Rueben Price, 47, of Factory Lane, Widnes and Rueben Price Jnr, 25, of Regent Street, Newton-le-Willows were arrested following the dispute.

They have all been charged with one count of violent disorder and two counts of having a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The trio have been remanded in custody and are set to appear at Warrington Magistrates Court today, Thursday, August 6.

Two other men who were previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and affray over the disturbance have since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries by the force.

Police have appealed for witnesses to what they described as an "isolated incident" to come forward, while officers have increased their patrols in the area.
