WINSFORD United have unveiled two new signings ahead of the new campaign.

Wingers Ben Steer and Jesse Dowling will be a part of Lee Duckworth’s squad for the 2020-21 campaign, which is currently set to start with the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round on Tuesday, September 1.

Steer’s former clubs include West Didsbury & Chorlton, Cheadle Town and Wythenshawe Town while Dowling has had spells at Southport and Skelmersdale United among others.

Blues who have also announced the retention of several players from last season’s squad.

Striker Sam Madeley has committed himself for next season after finishing as Winsford’s top goalscorer in the curtailed 2019-20 campaign in which Blues finished 13th.

Perry Bircumshaw, Danny Kerr, Steve Jenyons, Darcy O’Connor and Nathan Cotterell are also confirmed to be available to Duckworth for the upcoming season.

Current government guidelines state the North West Counties League Premier Division can start from Saturday, September 5, but no confirmed start date has been announced.

Instead, Blues appear likely to start their season in the FA Cup – they will discover their fate in the Extra Preliminary Round draw on Tuesday, August 18.
