THE demolition of a shop unit on London Road said to be ‘beyond renovation’ will go ahead.
Graham Jones, of Douglas, Isle of Man, had applied for permission to level the store and its associated on-site sheds located at 23 to 27 London Road.
The unit had most recently been used by Whitby's Granite Products and is situated opposite the former J&S Motorcycles unit, which itself is set to be transformed into an ‘Altrincham-style’ artisan market.
In his application, Mr Jones said that the building is in a 'poor state of repair' and is 'beyond useful renovation'.

But he was told by Cheshire West and Chester planning officers that prior approval for the proposed demolition is not required.

A public notice from CWAC says that the demolition works are scheduled to take place this month and carried out by Macclesfield-based Cheshire Demolition.
Rubble will be transferred to the firm's base, with the London Road site being 'cleared, levelled and fenced off' until a new use is identified.
