ACTIVITY sessions are resuming after lockdown with the Friends of Winsford Town Park.

Volunteers will be meeting tomorrow, Wednesday from 10.30am to 1pm and every week after that.

John Malam, the group's chairman, said: "We're very pleased that Jo Fawcett, designer of town park's planting scheme will be with us, helping us to grow in knowledge and appreciation of the plants and trees.

"Our main work in the coming weeks will be to get on top of the weeding as a lot of annual weed has grown amongst the ornamental grasses and perennials in the prairie zone, the park's most visible area around the Salt Stacks.

"We'll be moving on to working around the pond margin, and in the woodland zone adjacent to Clough Road.

"There's also litter picking to do which can be done at any time and doesn't have to be part of our Wednesday sessions."

New safety measures will be in place to meet coronavirus guidelines.

Volunteers are asked to bring their own tools as the group equipment is locked away. Garden spades, forks, hand tools, a flexitub and weed bucket would be useful if you happen to have them.

Everyone will be asked to observe social distancing unless they are in the same household or bubble.

Bags to collect weeds and litter will be provided.

Volunteers can enjoy a chat and a coffee afterwards.
