A NEWLY formed football team has smashed their goal after they conquered Mount Snowdon.
Winsford Diamonds Athletics under 11s set their target at £650 and have already raised £975 towards pitch and referee fees and a new training kit.
Nine players joined coaches and parents and tackled the challenging Pyg path trail in under two hours on Saturday, July 26.

Mum-of-two Kelly, whose husband Lee coaches the team with Marc Feighery, said: "It was an excellent achievement and the boys really enjoyed themselves.

"It was good team bonding. The lads smashed it and parents of all fitness levels and ages climbed with them.

"The weather at the top was blowing and cold but copious amounts of sweets kept us in high spirits. It was a great day with lots of amazing memories for an awesome bunch of players."
The team has set up a JustGiving Crowdfunding page to raise funds.

Players are now training for their first friendly game against Witton on Wednesday, August 19 at home in Knights Grange.
Kelly, whose son Charlie, a pupil at High Street Primary School, is enjoying training, said; "Some of the boys have played together in the previous team and some new players have come in.

"They've all been working really hard because they have missed so much with lockdown. They train on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning. They are enjoying being back.
"We have 11 players at the moment, a couple more would be great."
