AN urban explorer has toured some of Bradford's disused buildings and Odsal stadium as part of an ongoing project.

The man, who operates under the name of Kyle Urbex on social media, completed some explorations in Bradford and Shipley including Midland Mills, taking photographs at each location and posting them online.

He also took in the former Mode nightclub, near the Alhambra Theatre in Morley Street, which was closed in 2011.

He visited Odsal stadium which shut to Bradford Bulls fans in September last year.

Heaton Royds Special School, Redburn Drive, Shipley, was also visited during 'Urbex's district trip. The school closed in March 2010 after being declared structurally unsound.

At each stop the explorer takes photographs to explore its history and what it has become today.

'Urbex', who is based in Leeds, says he loves coming to Bradford to explore its history through some of its derelict buildings.

He said: "I go around abandoned and derelict buildings and look at the state they are in now.

"Some of them are between 30 and 150 years old.

I just find it mesmerising finding out about the history of them all

"At Heaton Royds, there are murals on the walls and the headteacher's car park spaces is still there.

"I have been to lots of places like Bradford and Blackpool. I just find it amazing and there is so much out there to uncover.

I only go inside the buildings if there is an opening somewhere. Even when we are inside we don't take anything from the properties

"Sometimes we can be in a building for 20 minutes, others for up to two hours. It just depends how much content there is.

"At Mode nightclub there was a lot of graffiti on the walls inside.

"I am based in West Yorkshire but like to travel around to find new buildings.

"I have been to Bradford on a few occasions. I didn't get all the places I wanted to see done in one visit.

"I still need to go back to Bradford."

But 'Urbex' did find one of the locations he visited in Bradford an unusual experience.

I am a Leeds Rhinos fan, so to go to the club that are our arch enemy was weird

"It was still an amazing experience to be inside the stadium on my own and enjoy the whole stadium."
