FOOD and drink firms from Bradford have been urged to put their names forward for a Lockdown Legends prize.

Deliciouslyorkshire, the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and the Humber are launching the Lockdown Legends Awards to recognise excellence under adversity within the industry.

The awards, which will be open to all food and drink businesses based in the county will shine a light on those who have gone above and beyond to help either the industry or their community during the lockdown period.

Launching on August 1 to celebrate Yorkshire Day, the awards are being run in association with Leeds based design and branding consultancy CHILLI.

Both entries from businesses themselves and nominations from the public are welcome and once the entries are closed, a shortlist will then be announced followed by an online public vote. The winners of each of the two categories which recognise both Business and Community will then be announced on September 1.

Judy Bell, chair of Deliciouslyorkshire, said: “The last few months have been a challenging time for everyone, but we’ve seen just how resilient and creative Yorkshire’s food and drink businesses can be.

“These awards will showcase some of the many stories we’ve heard of businesses finding creative ways to support both the sector and their communities.”

Entries for the two categories can be made online and include:

Lockdown Legends Business Award – a Yorkshire food or drink business/individual that has creatively adapted to survive or helped to support others within the industry.

Lockdown Legends Community Award – a Yorkshire food or drink business/individual that has gone above and beyond to support their local community during lockdown.

Entries and nominations for the Lockdown Legends Awards can be made online at deliciouslyorkshire.co.uk from August 1-14.

A shortlist will then be announced on Friday, August 21 and the public will then be able to vote for their winner online.
