RESTRICTIONS could soon be enforced along Weaver Valley Road in Winsford to prevent it being used as a 'lorry park'.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is set to consult businesses along the road about possible new time limits for lorry parking.

It follows concerns from residents about parked lorries restricting access, delivery vehicles left idling and lorries parking along the road overnight.

Cllr Nathan Pardoe, Labour CWAC member for Wharton, said: "I've been working on this from when I first began campaigning ahead of the May 2019 local elections.

"I'm grateful to the residents who took the time to share photos and videos of the problems over many months.

"I have worked with council enforcement and environment departments, but it's been clear for some time that restrictions are essential."

Following a meeting between Cllr Pardoe and Cllr Karen Shore, cabinet member for environment, highways and strategic transport, an order is due to be put in place to trial lorry parking restrictions in Weaver Valley Road.

Businesses will also be consulted on new delivery times, which Cllr Pardoe hopes will stop 'antisocial' delivery hours. – while businesses will also be consulted on new delivery times.

He added: "This will make the road safe and ensure fair use between residents and businesses.

"The next step to getting the trial up and running is consultation with businesses."
