A HOMELESS man who subjected his victim to racially aggravated words or behaviour in Bournemouth has been jailed for 16 weeks.
Glenn Williams, aged 51 and of no fixed abode, admitted a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a man to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against him in Charminster Road on March 16.
Appearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court on July 13, the defendant was committed to prison, with the bench noting the seriousness of the offence due to it targeting an individual’s race, threatened violence and terrorised the complainant, as well as Williams’s bad record and failure to comply with the pre-sentencing reports process.
He was ordered to pay £150 compensation and issued with a restraining order, banning him from the centre of Charminster.
Magistrates also dealt with him for a breach of a conditional discharge issued in January for a criminal damage offence. Williams received no separate penalty.
