Residents at a sheltered accommodation building say that they have been without heating or hot water for 10 days.

The 51 flats at John Willis house on Chatsworth Road in Rock Ferry have been forced to boil kettles for bathing, including a 92-year-old who lives at the premises.

The lift at the building has also been out of order for nearly two weeks.

One resident, who didn't wish to be named told the Globe that the problems have started because there has been no scheme manager for the accommodation for over four months.

The lady, who lives there with her partner, says that she believes there to be 44-46 flats occupied, who all have to share one showering facility.

Despite the issues, residents pay a monthly service charge to the accommodation providers, Sanctuary Housing.

The Globe contacted Sactuary Housing for comment.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “We understand the residents’ frustration and are sorry for the inconvenience the issues with the boiler and lift have caused.

"We have been in daily contact with our external contractors to ensure they arranged the repairs as soon as they had the required parts and we can confirm that we are expecting all the work to be completed on Friday July 24.

“In the meantime, we have been making regular calls to residents to carry out welfare checks and ask them if there is any additional support they need.”
