CHILDREN'S play areas, outdoor gyms and toilets are reopening at Winsford's two recreation grounds.

Winsford town councillors decided unanimously to reopen facilities at Wharton and Over at a zoom meeting last night.

Stringent Covid-19 safety measures will be introduced to ensure the safety of the public and staff when the facilities re-open on Monday, July 27.

Winsford mayor Cllr Aisla Gaskill Jones said: "We will take into account all the measures and risk assessments that the Government and other organisations have recommended."

Town clerk Mark Bailey said the toilets at both recreation grounds had been deep cleaned by a professional cleaning company at the start of the pandemic and will be thoroughly cleansed again before they are reopened.

Wharton bowling club had asked for the toilets to be reopened.

Signs will be displayed to advise visitors on the new precautions which will be in place.

Mr Bailey told councillors: "We have received guidance about social distancing and risk assessments of playgrounds. A one-way system is suggested at the outdoor gyms.

"Play areas, slides, monkey bars and climbing frames should be cleaned by us. We should also encourage sanitisation by users. Hand sanitisers and disposable wipes will be available. Signs and posters about hand washing will be on display."
