A MIXTURE of relief, joy and disappointment has followed the announcement that beauty salons can reopen from Monday when some treatments will be allowed whilst others are still forbidden.

Nail bars, tattoo and massage studios, body and skin piercing services, physical therapy businesses and spas can go ahead under new Government plans.

However, face waxing, eyelash treatments, make-up application and facials are not allowed.

Winsford sports and remedial therapist Dave Hamlett, 59, said: "There's a great sense of relief. My phone's been blown off the hook. One girl told me she is in agony.

"I've got clients I see once a month for pain relief and others with fibromyalgia. They are struggling because they haven't had any treatment for almost four months. It will make a big difference to a lot of people."

Dave, who runs Bodylogic Sports Massage Therapy from his home in Swanlow Lane, is taking bookings now and plans to reopen on Wednesday when extra health and safety measures will be in place.

Clients will be asked to complete a form before they arrive and everyone's temperature will be checked with a digital thermometer when they arrive.

"I will ask everyone to sanitise their hands as soon as they come and when they leave and I will leave half an hour between appointments to sanitise and allow air to circulate in the room."

Beauty therapist Vicki Evans, from Winsford, who runs Cheshire Skin Logic at her home on Wharton Road welcomed the move but is disappointed that she will be unable to carry out any of her specialist aesthetic treatments.

Vicki, 38, said: "I'm happy that my girls can offer spray tans, pedicures, manicures and body scrubbing but we're gutted we can't do any face to face, aesthetic or skin care.

"We can't do any lashes, brows, facials or skin needling."

Beauty therapist Emma Archbold and nail technician Amy Parry will be back at work on Monday as Vicki will continue teaching students until she gets the go ahead to resume her practice.

"Our phones haven't stopped ringing," said Vicki. "Everyone has been so supportive. Clients can't wait to come back. Treatments help everyone's mental health and wellbeing.

"I have clients with conditions that affect their confidence including polycystic ovary syndrome which causes facial hair. I offer laser or hair removal treatment and I can't even do that for them.

"It is frustrating but it's great news that some people can go back. I'll sit and wait patiently."

New coronavirus safety measures will be in place when the salon reopens.
