A MOBILE testing unit will return to Eccleston Park golf course on Friday for people who want to get swabbed for coronavirus.

Mobile testing units are an initiative from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and operated by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

They travel around the UK, responding to need, to increase access to anyone over the age of five who is showing symptoms of coronavirus.

The mobile testing unit will be operational from Friday, July 10 until Sunday, July 12, and will be strictly by appointment only.

The site, which can provide around 100 tests a day, was previously used as a mobile testing site at Eccleston Park golf course, near Rainhill, in June.

You should request a test if you have one of more symptoms of coronavirus:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough
  • a loss of or change to your sense of smell or taste

The facility is a drive through, self-testing centre and people will need to drive in their own vehicle or via a vehicle driven by someone in their household.

People being swabbed will remain in their vehicles and the whole operation adheres to strict infection and prevention control to ensure there is no contact with any residents of the area.

Instructions on how to take the test and how and when people they will receive their results will be provided when taking the test.

A time slot and the location of the mobile unit will be provided upon booking.
