MIDDLEWICH Councillors have praised plans from Cheshire East to restrict traffic waiting at a known black spot around Warmingham Lane, Chadwick Road and Cross Lane.
Under plans released yesterday, the areas in the vicinity of the Tesco Express car park will be designated no waiting at any time meaning that parked cars will not be able to obstruct the view of drivers hoping to join Warmingham Lane from Cross Lane, Chadwick Road or Tesco’s car park.
Cllr Mike Hunter, chairman of Middlewich Town Council, said, “This represents a victory for common sense and straightforward safety – for pedestrians crossing the road and drivers trying to pull out onto Warmingham Lane.
"We worked on this plan together with former Labour borough councillor for Crewe Brian Roberts before he passed away, and shows how Cheshire East can be a force for good in Middlewich when given appropriate direction.”
Residents should expect additional proposals in the near future, including schemes funded from S106 funds.

Cllr Jonathan Parry said: “Our priority is the safety of residents, whether they are in a car or on foot, whether trying to shop local, pick up prescriptions or get to school. We are also working on further measures to make Warmingham Lane safer, measures such as traffic calming, changes to junctions and better provision for school buses.”
