IMAGINATIVE children are designing their own unique friendly scarecrows.

But rather than the traditional scarecrows, Middlewich Primary School pupils have been making their 'hello crows', wearing a school jumpers and displaying them in their window or garden.

Music teacher Mel Biggs said: "We want to do something exciting and creative to bring our school community together. Hopefully it won't be long before we see each other but in the meantime we're all going to make not a scarecrow, but a hello crow.

"The idea is that at a time where we can't say hello properly to our friends, neighbours and others in the community, we can say hello using the hello crows. The children have loved making them."

Children are being inspired with lots of different ideas about how to make their hello crow.

It could be a picture or model of themselves stuck in the window waving hello.

Pupils could use a soft toy or anything else they can think of.

Mel added: "We are hoping that this will help the new children starting in reception this September and will enjoy waving at the hello crows and seeing that other children who live near to them go to their new school."
