A WINSFORD resident has slammed 'an utterly moronic act of vandalism' at a local landmark.

Incensed David Gunton lashed out at irresponsible people for dumping rubbish and daubing white paint over a bridge in the countryside.

"The story behind this utterly moronic act of vandalism is that a mindless idiot flytipped their rubbish by the broken bridge on Grange Lane which abuts an access to Whitegate Way," said David.

Several residents reported the flytipping to Cheshire West and Chester Council.

"However, rather than respond promptly to clean away the rubbish, the local authority left the rubbish there for a few days.," said David.

"In the meantime some other brain dead people went through the rubbish, scattering it about more widely. Finally, an even more cretinous type came along and threw the contents of a white paint can over the brickwork. Oh how proud they must feel of their handiwork."

David now fears it could be a while before the defaced bridge is cleaned.

"I wonder just how long it will be before the local authority cleans the paint off the brickwork and will they do a good or half-hearted job of that as well? In the past when they have attended to collect flytipped rubbish from Grange Lane they have taken the bulk away but always leave a little behind.

"They never clean up properly. It is bad enough that we have to suffer the depredations of these low-life elements of society without our local authority aiding and abetting them by tardiness and carelessness of their response.

"Ratepayers expect to receive first class work, not second class."

A spokesman for Cheshire West and Chester Council said:"Our Streetcare team visited the site on June 16 and confirmed that the flytipping had been removed. Arrangements are being made for the paint to be removed."
