COMMUNITY sport in Winsford is set to be boosted by receiving part of a six-figure donation from an entrepreneur.

Recruitment expert Benjamin Kershaw, from Northwich, has generously pledged £270,000 as part of charitable plans devised by Golden Egg Recruiting, of which he is group managing director.

In May, Golden Egg announced a five-year sponsorship deal with Northwich Rugby Club – a club that Benjamin used to play for.

And he has now extended further sponsorship to Winsford FC, as well as Northwich Victoria FC Juniors and Barnton Juniors FC.

“As a resident, I have seen first-hand the negative impact coronavirus has had across the sports community and teams in the area,” he said.

“The community clubs are struggling, and I want to help.

“Funding from Golden Egg Recruiting will be used across multiple sports clubs to prevent closures and to positively stimulate their operations.

“This will allow them to concentrate on their team's performance and importantly, all club's continuation post-Covid-19.”

The multi-club funding will give all organisations a significant cash injection, as well as Benjamin's business expertise and company support throughout their sponsorship terms.

Robert Walsh, chairman of Northwich Victoria FC Juniors, said: “Without this type of financial and business support, it would be tough to encourage young people's participation back into football after the coronavirus pandemic.

“Golden Egg's sponsorship across several of our girls’ and boys’ teams will secure the clubs future.

“It's fantastic to see local companies supporting grassroots football.”

Barnton Junior FC chairman David Bryning added: “In these challenging times we are all facing, the club would like to thank Benjamin and Golden Egg for their sponsorship of our u10s team.”

Golden Egg Recruiting says it is committed to supporting community sports for the foreseeable future.
