WIDNES parkrun has issued a plea to the public after one of the installed defibrillators had been removed from a wall.
Following a report from Halton Borough Council that it was found in a bush on Thursday in the park, a spokesperson for parkrun, which runs free Saturday 5k walks and jogs, said: "Thankfully it still works and is back in the box ready to save someone's life.
"We would like to remind people that, whilst this was installed on behalf of parkrun, it is very much a community asset and should be treated with the utmost care.
"If anyone saw this being used sometime during the past few days please email: Widnes @parkrun.com."
Defibrillation is a treatment for life-threatening cardiac arrests used to shock the heart to stop an extremely rapid, irregular heartbeat and restore it to its natural rhythm.
