THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has not recorded any coronavirus deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (May 31) show that, as of 5pm yesterday, the number of deaths of patients testing positive for the virus remained at 171.

One coronavirus death had been recorded in the figures released on Saturday, May 30.

The trust covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites.

Only Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recorded the deaths in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded the most deaths with 178, followed by the Countess (171), Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (121) and East Cheshire NHS Trust (113).

Across England, a further 85 people – down from 146 yesterday – who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 26,614.

The figures are usually lower on Sundays and Mondays due to the way they are recorded.

Patients were aged between 56 and 100 years old. A total of six of the 85 patients were aged between 56 and 82, and had no known underlying health condition.

Today, nine deaths are reported with no positive COVID-19 test result.
