MORE than 50 members of staff from Bexton Primary School formed a procession in their cars, bikes and on foot around local estates at 6pm on Friday to see the children and the scarecrows they made this week.

Knutsford Guardian:

They waved, played music, beeped their horns and had a great time saying hello to lots of Knutsford residents on their travels.

Knutsford Guardian:

The Bexton children had been set a challenge over the half term holidays to create a scarecrow and display it in front of their house, which resulted in more than 200 being spotted across Knutsford.

Knutsford Guardian:

Bexton Primary headteacher Emily Armstrong said: “I am so immensely proud of all the children and staff.

Knutsford Guardian:

"Friday’s parade was such a fantastic opportunity to see all the children, and we never expected it to grow into such a big event.

Knutsford Guardian:

"I think that is testament to the wonderful community we live in. The support from everyone has been incredible - we set out to cheer up a few families and ended up making a positive impact on a lot more.

Knutsford Guardian:

"The staff had a fantastic time too, with many saying it was the highlight of their lockdown.”

Knutsford Guardian:

Deputy headteacher Jill Sach said: “The idea came from one of our teaching assistants, Anne Joyce, who suggested the scarecrow competition over half term, and the idea developed from there.

Knutsford Guardian:

"We have had so many positive comments from parents, and it really does seem to have cheered everyone up after 10 weeks of being at home.”

Knutsford Guardian:

Emma Kirkham, a Y5 & Y3 parent at the school, said: “It was amazing seeing everyone; it really brought the community together. My son Oliver said it was one of the best days ever."
