A RESIDENT has called for more to be done after continued cases of large numbers of youths gathering at a neighbourhood without social distancing.

The Star reported last week that groups of dozens of youths had been gathering in the area around Walmsley Road in Eccleston during the evenings.

The groups have been out each evening, with no social distancing taking place, say residents.

The matter was raised with local police, who said they have stepped up visibility in the area.

However, a resident says the problem has continued and that they have hurled verbal abuse at passers-by.

"There is about 35 of them all sitting next to each other," they said.

"It's just not on and they need some sort of warning.

"They sit there like they just don't care and it's the whole attitude. Surely the parents should drum into them that you can go to the park but stay away from each other.

"I think more needs to be done, maybe schools getting involved.

"We'd had troubles before the lockdown with children hanging round the shops and now there's just lots of them every night.

"I think more needs to be done with community policing. I just don't want it to happen to a vulnerable person, especially in these times."
