THERE have been no new deaths from coronavirus reported by the trust that runs Macclesfield Hospital for five days.

East Cheshire NHS Trust, which also runs hospitals in Knutsford and Congleton, has reported 111 deaths from Covid-19 as of 5pm on Tuesday, May 27.

That has remained the same figure since 5pm on Thursday, May 21.

Of the 28 NHS trusts in the north west, East Cheshire has the 19th-highest death toll.

Meanwhile, a total of 400 deaths from Covid-19 were recorded by Cheshire East Council as of May 23, according to the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics.

That includes 176 deaths outside hospitals – including 160 in care homes.

As of 9am on Wednesday, there had been 1,204 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the borough.

At the same time one week earlier, there had been 1,127 confirmed cases.
